This
month's hot tool is the newest release from Swanksoft
Technologies. It's called SpyKiller,
and it was created to search for and destroy all hidden
SpyWare and AdWare programs that are lurking around
inside your computer.
Most of you are probably way too familiar with AdWare,
simply because it's so blatant. The purpose of AdWare
is to advertise, and we've all been subjected to PopUp
web browser ads, search results on Google or Yahoo
that produce ads rather than true results, even banners
that automatically change to an advertisement on websites.
AdWare is intrusive, annoying, and offensive, but
most of us assume it's a price we have to pay. Not
true.
SpyWare is an even more invasive attack on your computer,
because it's so hidden. Yet SpyWare can and does do
many harmful things, and it does them without your
knowledge, much less your permission. SpyWare programs
steal information. These are the programs responsible
for identity theft, taking such critical personal
information as credit card numbers, email addresses
and the history of your surfing habits.
So, you might ask, how does SpyWare get inside your
computer, and what can you do about it once it's there?
Well, according to Swanksoft, there are three primary
ways to "contract this disease:"
- Free programs you downloaded are bundled with SpyWare
in the install. This is common in the P2P file-sharing
arena. Kazaa, iMesh, Grokster, and so on practice this
method.
- Many SpyWare parasites load using Internet
Explorer's ActiveX installation option. This allows
evil websites to automatically install SpyWare on your
machine the moment you visit their website without your
knowledge.
- By exploiting bugs in Internet Explorer
and Windows some evil websites load dozens of SpyWare
parasites on your machine without your knowledge.
SpyKiller,
of course, is the cure. According to their claims,
by installing SpyKiller your identity will be protected,
which is really the number one concern of most internet
users. In addition, SpyKiller will also decrease the
number of popups you receive, stabilize your computer
by removing much of the "clutter" that's accumulated,
AND, virtually eliminate the dreaded SPAM from your
email.
SwankSoft's
first product, HistoryKill, has been installed on
over 10 million desktops around the world and has
been called one of the top Internet tools by CNN.com
and PC World magazine. With the release of SpyKiller,
they may just have cornered the market on the destruction
of spyware and adware-something for which all internet
users would be grateful. If you would like a FREE
