This month we bring you two tools, one aimed mainly
at web developers and internet marketers,
and the other aimed at anyone with a high speed internet
connection.
Tool Number One: We recently discovered an
exciting little program called Link Track Pro. In
fact, exciting may be an understatement, because as
both web developers and internet marketers, this is
one product we can vouch for personally and enthusiastically
endorse.
As anyone in the "biz" knows, tracking your advertising
campaigns and marketing efforts is the key to internet
marketing. Without knowing which ads are effective,
where your visitors are coming from and what websites
bring in the most traffic, what campaigns receive
the best responses and make you the highest profits,
you're really just spitting into the wind! With Link
Track Pro, you get real time, easy to read graphical
stats on all of the above and more.
But the proof is in the results. We just put the
program to use for an ad campaign we did for Acapulco
Restaurants. The results are in, and we can happily
report that not only did Link Track Pro work to perfection,
but we had ourselves an extremely satisfied client.
But don't take our word for it. If you're a web developer
and you've been searching for a good, and very inexpensive
tracking solution, check it out for yourselves at
www.linktrackpro.com.
Tool Number Two: Now for the "general use"
tool of the month. For everyone who does not use a
dial-up connection to access the internet, you undoubtedly
take great pleasure in the speed of your broad band
connectivity, as well as the fact that you are "always
on."
Unfortunately, however, as with just about everything
else, there is a downside. Being "always on" also
means being "always exposed" to hackers. Unless you
actually shut down, you're connected whether you're
using the internet or not.
As internet security expert Steve Gibson wrote, "There
are good reasons for a personal computer, which is
not actively using the Internet, to be disconnected."
Well, once again, for every problem, someone seems
to come up with a solution. This time it's PathLock's
e100 NETimer, a tiny piece of hardware that secures
your computer by keeping the high-speed connection
physically blocked from the Internet when you don't
want or need to be connected. As they put it, the
only time your computer is really safe from a hacker
attack is when the pathway to the Internet is not
open. And according to Steve Gibson, "PathLock's hardware-based
device is the only solution that cannot possibly be
defeated by malicious hackers."
Now we haven't tried this one yet, but we will. It
seems incredibly simple to use, and it only costs
$39.95. NBC did a feature on it that you can watch
if you go to www.pathlock.com.
Seems like a worthwhile investment.
